Economic Outlook - December 2

Dec 2, 2016  | Ep4215

Andy Williams sang about this being the “most wonderful time of the year.” As winter activities ramp up, consumers are showing more optimism about the near-term future.

-- According to the Conference Board, last month, consumer confidence hit its highest level since July of 2007.

The increased bravado may be fueled in part by the 178,000 jobs created in November and an unemployment rate moving down to 4.6 percent – a 9-year low.

And economic optimism helped buoy the Creighton University Mid-America Business Conditions Index by 3 points despite the indicator being below growth-neutral for the 5th month in a row. - -
