Despite the threat of higher prices from a trade war, U.S. consumers have yet to curtail trips to their favorite website or local retail outlet. --

Retail purchases rose 0.5 percent last month.

When the price of new cars and the fuel to power them are removed, core retail sales rose an equal amount.

The housing market remains in flux but July witnessed a 0.9 percent rebound after a dramatic plunge in June.

Lower grain prices have started to pull on the Creighton Rural Mainstreet index. The economic indicator shows signs of growth even as the farm economy remains under pressure.
