Americans have delayed buying their next cellphone or automobile as they wait for a resolution to the trade war with China. Tariffs on both sides of the Pacific have contributed to a declining global economy. ---

U.S. factory orders fell 0.6 percent in November - the second month in a row.

The U.S. trade balance shrank 11.5 percent during the same time period. After five months of expansion both imports and exports dropped.

The Creighton University Mid-America Business Conditions Index stayed above growth neutral for the 26th month in a row. A climb of nearly 1 point was the outcome from a battle between increased manufacturing and the economic effects of the Chinese trade war.
