Canada ratifies USMCA

Mar 13, 2020  | Ep4530

The Canadian Parliament ratified the U.S -Mexico - Canada (USMCA) trade pact late Friday. The agreement was rushed through both chambers of Parliment as representatives rushed to leave Ottawa for a three week break intended to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Canada was the last of the three parties to approve the long-negotiated trade deal. The United States is the destination for 75 percent of Canadian exports, and Mexico is the destination for another 1.2 percent. Exports make up 33% of Canadian GDP.
