2015 IGHSAU Girls State Swimming & Diving | 50 Freestyle/400 Freestyle Relay

Three individuals took home two golds at the 2015 IGHSAU State Swimming and Diving championships. Sarah Schemmel of Muscatine was one of them with wins in the 100 Freestyle and the 50 Freestyle. Schemmel set the pace with a time of 23.24 and improved on her 6th place finish last season. Sophie Sorenson of Ames was second at 23.32 and Lexie Winnett of Johnston finished third with a time of 23.66. 

Sophie Sorenson was also part of another winning relay for Ames. The sophomore set a record in the 100 Backstroke as an individual and anchored the Little Cyclones in the 400 Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:29.15, another record breaking performance. Here teammates of Grace Snyder, Olivia Jenks and Morgan Rosser joined her on the top of the medal stand. Southeast Polk was second with a time of 3:30.87 and Waukee’s 3:33.50 effort took third.
