Iowa PBS presents the 2020 Terrace Hill Piano Competition

Iowa PBS will once again broadcast the Terrace Hill Piano Competition. Airing Friday, March 20 at 8:30 p.m., the broadcast features performances from the competition’s four senior division finalists—John Flannery, Washington; Ashley Xu, Ames; Joya Schreurs, Sheldon; and Tylar Meister, Mitchellville. It also includes performances from the two junior division finalists—Ian Lewis, Cedar Falls and Ana Yam, Ames. The competition was held February 7-8 at Iowa PBS.

“We have been broadcasting the performances of the Terrace Hill Piano Competition for more than two decades,” said Molly Phillips, executive director and general manager of Iowa PBS. “Showcasing Iowa’s talented youth is an important part of our mission and we’re proud to bring their performances to Iowans across the state.”

Established in 1986, the Terrace Hill Piano Competition is an annual event that features junior and senior-level Iowa high school students. Scholarships are awarded to the winners of the senior competition. All judging is done by out-of-state music professionals.

In addition to Iowa PBS’s statewide broadcast, viewers from across the state and beyond will be able to watch the program on demand on iowapbs.org and the PBS Video App, available on iOS and Android devices as well as smart TVs and other streaming platforms.
