CANCELED: Iowa PBS to host two screenings of the new PBS KIDS program Alma's Way

It is with an abundance of caution that we have decided to cancel the Alma's Way events on October 2. We were looking forward to hosting these screenings and engaging with you, but we do not want to risk anyone’s health and wellness.

Join Iowa PBS at the Maytag Auditorium on Saturday, October 2 at 9 a.m. or 11 a.m. for a special advanced screening of PBS KIDS’ newest program, Alma’s Way! Created by actor and writer Sonia Manzano known to generations of children as Maria from Sesame Street, the series follows 6-year-old Alma Rivera, a proud Puerto Rican girl who lives in the Bronx with her parents and younger brother. In each episode, Alma helps children find the power to express what they think and feel, and to recognize the unique perspectives of others.

During the events, families will watch two episodes of Alma’s Way on the big screen, have the opportunity to participate in a collaborative coloring mural and will take home a grab and go activity.

While we are planning for this special event to occur in-person at our studios in Johnston, we will continue to closely review public health guidelines and update our safety protocols as necessary.

Alma’s Way premieres on statewide Iowa PBS on October 4 at 7:30 a.m. with two back-to-back episodes. The series will air on Iowa PBS’s primary channel weekdays at 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. and on Iowa PBS KIDS .2 weekdays at 4 p.m.
