Raising Farm Animals

Whether for meat, eggs, or dairy products, animals provide humans with food products that we consume everyday. By noticing the which animals are producing the most eggs or milk, farmers and agricultural scientists can make sure those traits are inherited by the next generation of farm animals.

Studying genetics in chickens and cows has led to an improvement in the eggs, chickens and milk that your family buys at the grocery store. Check out how this is done at Iowa State University.
