Aug 5, 2016  | Ep4150

According to the Labor Department, the unemployment rate held steady at 4.9 percent as more people started looking for work.

High wage jobs for architects and engineers were among the pool of 255,000 positions created in June.

While a promising sign, the Commerce Department revealed orders for factory goods fell 1.5 percent last month.

This was paired with a trade deficit of $44.5 billion in imported products.

And the Creighton University Rural Mainstreet Index continued its 11th straight month below growth neutral.  The 10-state survey fell more than 4 points to 39.8 after a steady improvement over the past quarter. --
