When Harry Met Laurel

Jun 4, 2019  | Ep254 | Podcast

Harry Smith is a network television correspondent who took a phone call from Iowa PBS producer Laurel Bower. It wasn't a full-time job offer, but a chance to be a part of a project that impacted many in rural America -- the 1980s Farm Crisis. Why did Mr. Smith say yes? What stands out about the people of rural America then and now? We talk to both parties on how this partnership emerged. Click here to listen to Laurel and Harry talk about their collaboration on the documentary. Here is a link to an earlier conversation on the project. And here is the link to learn more about the education effort behind the film.
