The font on the “help wanted” sign appears to be getting bigger as some employers are raising wages in an attempt to fill jobs.  If you pay it, they will come. ---

Around 266,000 jobs were added in April, less than the previous month and below expectations as businesses struggle to find employees.

Unemployment ticked up to 6.1 percent as more people are likely re-entering the workforce. 

The outlook in the nine states surveyed by Creighton University hit the highest mark in the Business Conditions Index’s history. The 73.9 reading was boosted by manufacturing activity. 

Purdue University’s Ag Economy Barometer moved a point higher to a reading of 178 on the views of 400 U.S. agricultural producers.
