Iowa PBS presents the broadcast premiere of Des Moines Metro Opera Presents The Cunning Little Vixen on Friday, September 19 at 8:30 p.m., bringing the performance to Iowans statewide. In addition to the broadcast, the opera will be available to stream on iowapbs.org and the PBS app for the first time ever.

Journey into the wondrous world of the quick-witted vixen and her escape from confinement for a life in the forest. Bursting with boundless invention, imaginative colors and a memorable cast of creatures, director Kristine McIntyre, maestro David Neely, and visual composer Oyoram reunite after their triumphant production of Bluebeard’s Castle to bring the vixen’s natural world to life.

"Des Moines Metro Opera's production of The Cunning Little Vixen is a significant artistic achievement,” said Iowa PBS producer and director Judy Blank. “Iowa PBS's coverage preserves the accomplishment and enables us to share this stunning production with opera enthusiasts and lovers of the arts."

Living freely, the vixen experiences joy, romance and tragedy as the cycle of life is explored through the world of nature. This opera from renowned composer Leoš Janácek first premiered in 1924.
