Iowa PBS to host two screenings of the new PBS KIDS program Phoebe & Jay
Be among the first to watch the new PBS KIDS program, Phoebe & Jay, at a special family event. On February 1, Iowa PBS will host premiere screenings of this new animated series at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. with fun for the whole family.
Beginning at 1 p.m. on February 1, families are welcome to join Iowa PBS for a special sensory-friendly screening. This relaxed environment is designed for children who may benefit from a more low-key atmosphere. The volume will be softer, the lights dimmed and audience movement is welcome. This screening will offer all the fun of the show with a few thoughtful adjustments, including a more limited capacity.
A second screening of Phoebe & Jay will begin at 2 p.m. This screening is also open to all but will provide a more traditional screening experience. It's the perfect opportunity for families to come together and enjoy the debut of this funny and engaging new series.
At both showtimes, families will grab a snack and drink before heading into the theater to watch two early episodes on the big screen. After each screening, children will have the opportunity to participate in an activity from the Iowa PBS Education team.
Phoebe & Jay follows the adventures of the curiously charismatic 6-year-old fraternal twins, Phoebe and Jay Yarber. The program's literacy curriculum is designed to closely support preschoolers as they learn how to create and use the many types of functional texts that they encounter each day. As the twins uncover adventures in their new home, they use a flyer to help a neighbor find a lost pet and read clothing labels to find the right size shirt. Phoebe and Jay showcase for young viewers how they, too, can utilize these skills to explore their surroundings, pursue their interests, and accomplish tasks big and small in their own lives.
