Find YOUR Roots with Iowa PBS

Would you like to learn more about your ancestry but you’re not sure where to begin? Join Iowa PBS on Tuesday, March 29 at 7 p.m. for a special online discussion. This event begins with a short preview of curated clips from upcoming episodes of the new season of Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates Jr. Currently airing on statewide Iowa PBS, the eighth season has included some of today's most compelling personalities, including Regina King, Anita Hill, Raul Esparza, Erin Burnett, Tony Danza, Leslie Odom, Jr. and others!

Following the clips, three members from the Iowa Genealogical Society will join the conversation live to discuss how people can begin to access their own ancestry. Attendees will learn about local resources and hear stories from those who have researched their family trees. Through the online shared media viewing platform, audience members can discuss their ancestry and ask questions during the live discussion.

“We are excited to introduce people to the world of genealogy," said Tony Cupp, librarian at the Iowa Genealogical Society. "We encourage attendees to come with questions on how to get started in researching their own family's history."
