Escaramuza Quetzalli
As the female counterpart to the Mexican cowboy, Escaramuzas emerged in the 1950s as the only official event for women in the Mexican rode. An escaramuza team is composed of women who perform choreographed maneuvers on horseback, riding side-saddle in traditional dress. Each performance, lasting between five to seven minutes, is judged on synchronization, execution, symmetry, and presentation. With every routine, the Escaramuzas celebrate their love for the sport while proudly preserving and representing Mexican culture.
Rachel Yoder
Rachel Yoder, originally from a small Mennonite community, transformed her love for writing into a story that’s captured attention across the country. Nightbitch, her breakout novel, follows a former artist turned stay-at-home mom whose life takes an unbelievable turn. What started as a bold and bizarre concept quickly caught the eye of movie producers. Drawing heavily from her own journey through early motherhood, Yoder wrote Nightbitch as the kind of story she wished she had during that time. A story that embraces the chaos, emotion, and raw honesty of becoming a mother.
