Iowa PBS presents Historic Buildings of Iowa: Davenport
Explore the arts and architecture of historic Davenport in Iowa PBS’s hour-long documentary, Historic Buildings of Iowa: Davenport. The latest installment of the network’s architecture programs premieres online and on air Tuesday, December 2 at 7 p.m.
Historic Buildings of Iowa: Davenport journeys east to explore the culture and commerce of Davenport, where historic buildings and landmarks tell the tale of immigration, innovation, and the flow of trade along the Mississippi River. A sold out premiere screening will be held at the Figge Art Museum ahead of the broadcast, underscoring Iowans’ continued interest in exploring the state’s rich architectural history.
“It’s an honor to produce documentaries that help preserve the stories behind Iowa’s historic buildings,” said Iowa PBS Producer and Director Dan Bolsem. “These places aren’t just structures, they represent the heart of our communities and the generations who built them. If we don’t tell their stories and share why they matter, we risk losing a vital part of our state’s history and identity.”
Buildings featured in the documentary include:
- Adler Theatre
- Bix Beiderbecke historic tour
- Figge Art Museum
- Gold Coast - Hamburg Historic District
- Hose Station No. 4
- Modern Woodmen Park
- Trinity Episcopal Cathedral
- Village of East Davenport
