Iowa PBS Announces Dates for Iowa Governor and U.S. House Debates

Iowa PBS will host televised debates for candidates running for Iowa governor and the U.S. House of Representatives this fall. 

Iowa PBS will host a debate for Iowa’s gubernatorial race, bringing together Zach Lahn (R-Belle Plaine) and Rob Sand (D-Des Moines) to answer questions from Iowa reporters and discuss their priorities and vision for the state during a 90-minute debate. Iowa Press Debates: Governor will air live Wednesday, October 21 at 7 p.m.

Iowa PBS will also host a 60-minute debate with U.S. House candidates in the 2nd Congressional District. Lindsay James (D-Dubuque) and Joe Mitchell (R-Clear Lake) will answer questions from Iowa reporters and discuss their platforms, concerns and future plans. Iowa Press Debates: 2nd Congressional District will air live on Thursday, October 8 at 7 p.m. 

Both debates will be moderated by Iowa Press host Kay Henderson and will air live on statewide Iowa PBS and be streamed on iowapbs.org and YouTube. The Iowa PBS television network reaches all media markets in the state including broadcast coverage across all 99 counties of Iowa.

The debates will be held at Iowa PBS studios in Johnston, Iowa, without a live audience. Additional Iowa PBS debates will be announced as they are confirmed.
