Iowa PBS offers live coverage of Yankee Doodle Pops!

The Des Moines Symphony’s 28th Annual Yankee Doodle Pops returns to the Iowa State Capitol in a statewide broadcast for all Iowans to enjoy. Iowa PBS will provide live coverage of the popular and patriotic performance this July. The Des Moines Symphony’s Yankee Doodle Pops will air live on Friday, July 1 at 8:30 p.m. with an encore presentation on Sunday, July 3 at 1 p.m.

"Iowa PBS is proud to partner again this year with the Des Moines Symphony to bring the tradition of Yankee Doodle Pops to all Iowans,” said Molly Phillips, executive director and general manager. “This year's event returns to the Capitol grounds — but now as a live broadcast, adding to the excitement of this spirited July 4th celebration.”

Each year, the Des Moines Symphony welcomes more than 100,000 central Iowans to celebrate Independence Day at Yankee Doodle Pops, the largest single-day concert event in Iowa. Music Director and Conductor Joseph Giunta and the musicians of the Des Moines Symphony will perform time-honored patriotic favorites, including the 1812 Overture and Stars and Stripes Forever. 

“We’re thrilled that Yankee Doodle Pops is back at the Capitol this year,” said Maestro Joseph Giunta. “We look forward to sharing this beloved Independence Day celebration across the state of Iowa thanks to our partnership with Iowa PBS.”
