Free story time and screening kit for libraries

Iowa PBS’s story time and screening kit for libraries is now available to request! Alma’s Way is the focus of this year’s kit and it is available for free for any interested library in Iowa.

We really enjoyed the previous two packs we received from Iowa PBS and have used them in our Summer Reading Story Times throughout the summer. - Alexis Karsjens from Aplington Legion Memorial Library

The kit will include all the items you need to host a fun and engaging event for the children in your community, including a book to read during story time, activity sheets, giveaways and links to suggested episodes of Alma’s Way. Libraries are welcome to use the materials whenever it best fits their program schedule.

We love your kits and we use them in multiple ways for different age groups. Thank you! - Dawn Miller from Lakin Library & Envisioning Center

Alma's Way is an engaging, animated series for children ages 4-6 created by Sonia Manzano, who played Maria on Sesame Street. The series stars 6-year-old Alma Rivera, a proud and confident Bronx-born, Puerto Rican girl, who lives in the Bronx with her family and a diverse group of friends and neighbors. In each story, Alma speaks directly to the audience in her "Think Through" moments, where she learns to think for herself, make decisions and understand other people’s points of view — while making lots of messy and hilarious mistakes all along the way.

These are wonderful! Thank you for supplying them to Iowa libraries! - Sue Petersen from Atlantic Public Library

With a strong emphasis on social emotional learning and finding your voice, this kit will be a perfect addition to your library’s summer program.
