Iowa Core Standard

HS-ESS2-1

Develop a model to illustrate how Earth's internal and surface processes operate at different spatial and temporal scales to form continental and ocean-floor features.

Driving Question

  • How are we able to learn about ancient geologic processes?

Probing Questions

  • How are the geologic principles playing out in Boneyard Hollow?

Classroom Suggestions

Students could:

  • Research the geologic processes causing the changes at both locations.
  • Compare and contrast how the Earth's internal and external processes work to shape the landscapes.
