Driving Question

  • How are baby animals alike, but not exactly like their parents?

Probing Questions

  • How are all animals of the same kind alike? How are they different?
  • Why do animal babies look like their parents?

Classroom Suggestions

Students could:

  • Look at family photos to identify traits among family members.
  • Use a Venn diagram to compare and contrast a plant or animal with its offspring.
  • Compare animals of the same species with each other to find similarities and differences.
