Join Iowa PBS at the Hoff Family Arts and Culture Center in Council Bluffs on June 9 at 6:30 p.m. for an advance screening of our newest documentary, General Dodge and the Transcontinental Railroad

This new documentary explores the life and legacy of Grenville M. Dodge, a Civil War general, intelligence pioneer and chief engineer for the Union Pacific, whose leadership on and off the battlefield helped preserve a fractured nation and drive the expansion that connected a continent. Through a story of war, innovation and ambition, the film examines the forces that bound the United States together during one of its most defining eras.

A reception co-hosted by Unleash Council Bluffs with light refreshments will begin at 6:30 p.m. The screening will begin in the auditorium at 7:30 p.m.

Following the screening, stay for a short discussion featuring Bill Feis of Buena Vista University, Patricia LaBounty, curator at the Union Pacific Railroad Museum, Chuck Spinks of the American Society of Civil Engineers in Sacramento, CA, and Tyler Brinegar, producer and director at Iowa PBS.

Open captions for the film will be provided. This event is free but registration is required.
