Refugees Heal Vietnam Wounds
Former US Ambassador to Cambodia Kenneth M. Quinn talks about how refugees from Southeast Asia helped Iowans as they came to terms with the issues surrounding the Vietnam War.

I think the number one thing that it did for Iowans, leaving aside the benefits to the refugees themselves, was it aided and abetted the healing process after the Vietnam War. The scars and the wounds were so deep and so intense and to be able to have something to do as a state, to having something to do together where if you were pro-war, anti-war, military, pacifist, everybody could feel very good about doing this. And it was about Indochina and so it was healing that wound, cauterizing it, letting the scar tissue begin to form. I think that was a great thing for the state.
