Tim Warmanen: A Slight Love Letter to his Hometown

Deep in the woods of Crystal Falls, Michigan, a story was waiting to be told. After three scientists discovered a record-breaking fungus in the area, the town saw an opportunity to stand out from other communities in the Upper Peninsula and celebrated the humongous fungus among them with an annual festival. Years later, native son Tim Warmanen realized there was a tale ready for the outside world. In this week's episode he talks about his role in writing and editing The Humungous Fungus Among Us, a film that digs up all things related to the fungus, from its size and age to its discovery and the yearly event it inspired.
