Massive drought in New Mexico has no signs of relenting impacting nearly every part of life in the state.

The drought in the western United States is massive and appears to be getting worse as summer looms. Much of New Mexico has gone two months without any measurable rain and this recent dry spell only adds to the drought issue that’s been building for several years. Laura Paskus has been covering environmental issues for New Mexico PBS for more than 20 years. This current situation is dramatically impacting nearly all walks of life in the state but especially agriculture. We discuss the Rio Grande, drought plans and how decisions in the 1950s have impacted the region today.
