Pete Conners was called up February, 1941 with Company E along with 112 young men from Shenandoah. Pete was wounded 3 times during World War II 1942-1945 and again in 1950 in Korea. Pete tells us about combat in North Africa and Northern Italy.

1929-1939 Video Public Housing for Miners

Miners living near Granger, Iowa, worked only part of the year. Their families lived in shacks. A priest helped acquire better housing for the miners and their families.

Dr. Kenneth Gee and a small cadre of people built a 3,000 bed hospital in Batangas, Philippines. They trained medics at Camp Grant who assessed wounded in the field throughout the Philippine islands. Dr.

Dr. Philip Hubbard (1921-2002), first African-American professor at the University of Iowa, talks about integrating dorms at the university. He was being interviewed by Robert Morris, whose father was one of the first African-Americans to live in the dorms.
